From 22 to 24 August 2025, the Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre (HYC) hosted the very first overseas Tzu Chi International Youth Association (TIYA) Conference. Organised by TIYA and Tzu-Chi Foundation (Singapore), the conference boasted the theme “Inspire, Empower, Sustain: YOUth for 2030” and rallied more than 100 youth delegates from 14 countries to take action for sustainable impact.
Over three days, participants underwent learning journeys, dialogues, and hands-on workshops. Experts from United Nations agencies, international NGOs, and sustainability-driven organisations also personally mentored the youths.
The action plans centred on social innovation and sustainable solutions. Among them were proposals to address recurring flooding in Malaysia — with its effects on electricity, infrastructure, and vulnerable communities — as well as initiatives to improve clean water and sanitation access for stateless communities in Sabah.
